West-Can HR is currently recruiting for a Recruitment Specialist to join our team!

The Position: The role of the Recruitment Specialist offers exceptional service to West-Can HR?s clients through active recruitment, job-seeker on-boarding, and general administrative support. This position is ever-changing, and never the same day-to-day as West-Can HR engages with the business community and strives to meet and exceed their needs. The Recruitment Specialist leads the front end of the office, anticipates client needs in meeting and prescreening new job seekers and leads strategic and effective recruitment solutions. This position will evolve to provide assistance with HR projects and business development activities.

  • Develop recruitment quotes specific to each business client’s needs.
  • Lead the selection support for business clients to discuss temporary recruitment services including:
    • Proactively anticipate client?s seasonal needs by recruiting and onboarding job seekers to the database
    • Discuss client’s temporary employment needs and develop contracts
    • React quickly in providing effective recruitment solutions to their needs
    • Onboarding including payroll paperwork with temporary staff, and ensure proper safety orientation documentation
    • Effective problem solving and job coaching as issues arise
    • Follow-up with clients on effectiveness of staff and record
  • Recruitment and Selection Support for Business Clients seeking permanent recruitment services including:
    • Discuss permanent vacancies and requirements; providing position review and out-of-the-box recruitment strategies
    • Creation of formalized Job Descriptions;
    • Creating job advertisements and post in the appropriate media;
    • Candidate network searching and prescreening
    • Pre-screen candidates and create a summary report on top candidates;
    • Coordinate and lead interview process including creating interview questions;
    • Create letter of offer and aid in negotiation;
    • Onboarding support post placement
  • Meet and assess job-seekers skill sets and preference, provide resume feedback and job-search strategy tips.
  • Lead the maintenance of Employee Database (HRIS system) including inputting all job seekers onboarded within the organization in a timely fashion, and keeping records up-to-date through staff interactions.
  • Support the client intake process as needed in assessing their recruitment needs, and developing a creative solution and recruitment plan.
  • Supporting ad-hoc HR client and internal process improvement projects as assigned.
  • First lead on answering the phones and the door in a helpful, bright, positive manner
  • Represent West-Can HR positively in the community attending business networking events
  • Administrative and recruitment support to other team members with various HR projects as needed.


  • Education in Business Administration and a minimum of 3 year of administrative experience. A combination of experience and education will be considered. HR education considered a strong asset.
  • Recruitment process experience considered a strong asset.
  • Must have professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Preference given to individuals who hold their RPR Certification or a drive to attain
  • Must be intuitive, creative, and enjoy meeting new people
  • Growth focused with a drive to increase business and sales
  • Must have a positive, upbeat personality, continuing our positive and fun work environment
  • Must be driven, goal oriented and experienced in self-management
  • Proficiency in Word, and Outlook is required with working knowledge of Excel and the ability to learn new software.
