Job Description

The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in ensuring the store operates efficiently, meets financial and operational goals, and delivers exceptional customer service. This involves overseeing daily operations, managing inventory, leading and developing staff, ensuring compliance with safety and food standards, and fostering a positive shopping and work environment.

The hours of work for this role will vary but will mainly be Monday to Friday, days. Depending on scheduling and operational needs, the Assistant Manager will also flex their time in helping to ensure the store operates effectively during the evenings and weekends.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Oversee daily store operations (e.g., produce, meat, deli, grocery, and front-end).
  •  Assist the Store Manager in achieving sales, productivity, and profitability targets.
  • Monitor inventory levels, coordinate with suppliers, minimize waste / stockouts.
  • Ensure customers receive exceptional service and high customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training employees.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to monitor budgets and control expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and provincial/federal food safety standards.
  • Oversee the cleanliness, organization, and merchandising of the store

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in retail or grocery store management.
  • Knowledge of grocery retail operations, merchandising, & inventory mgmt.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills and ability to inspire & motivate a diverse workforce.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a focus on meeting deadlines and achieving results.
  • High school diploma, (post-secondary education in business, retail management, or a related field is an asset)
