Job Description

Take your career beyond the driver’s seat and help shape the next generation of Class 1 professionals. The Class 1 Driving Instructor is responsible for providing professional, practical, and classroom-based instruction to individuals working toward obtaining their Class 1 driver’s license. This position supports students in developing the knowledge, skills, confidence, and safe driving practices required to operate Class 1 commercial vehicles. The instructor will provide clear, patient, and effective instruction while ensuring training is delivered in accordance with applicable Manitoba regulations, safety standards, and training requirements.

This role is considered an on-site position, primarily based out of the Dauphin, Manitoba office.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Provide classroom, yard, and in-vehicle Class 1 driver training.
• Teach safe vehicle operation, inspections, maneuvering, and on-road driving techniques.
• Educate students on traffic laws, commercial vehicle regulations, safety requirements, and industry best practices.
• Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and prepare students for knowledge and road testing.
• Maintain accurate student training records and required documentation.
• Conduct vehicle inspections, maintain training vehicles in safe operating condition, and promote a professional, safety-focused learning environment.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

• Valid Manitoba Class 1 Driver’s License.
• Manitoba Trucking Association Class 1(MELT) Instructor Preparation Course.
• Previous teaching, training, coaching, or mentoring experience is considered an asset.
• Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle operation, road safety, and applicable transportation regulations.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear and effective instruction.
• Demonstrated commitment to safe driving practices and professional conduct.
• Ability to maintain accurate training and student documentation.
