We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Controller to join our client’s leadership team.

About the Role
You will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organization while providing leadership and guidance to members of the finance team.
You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting while supporting operational leaders with meaningful financial information that helps improve business performance.
As an important member of the leadership team, you will work collaboratively across departments to identify opportunities for process improvement, improve reporting efficiency, strengthen financial controls, and support the organization’s continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include leading the organization’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes while ensuring all accounting records are accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable accounting standards and organizational policies.
You will prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger transactions while overseeing balance sheet reconciliations, operating expenses, payroll submissions, GST filings, credit card reconciliations, invoicing, and other core accounting functions.
Working closely with department managers, you will assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, monthly budget-to-actual reporting, financial analysis, and operational reporting that supports informed business decisions.
You will coordinate annual external audits, prepare supporting working papers, and ensure financial records are maintained in an organized, accurate, and auditable manner.
A key focus of this position will be identifying opportunities to improve financial systems, streamline business processes, enhance internal controls, reduce risk, and improve reporting efficiency throughout the organization.
In addition, you will provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and oversight to members of the finance team while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented work environment.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting skills with a genuine interest in improving how a business operates.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- CPA designation (or be nearing completion of the CPA program).
- Strong accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting & financial reporting.
- Experience leading or mentoring accounting staff.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles, payroll, GST, budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.
- Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- A passion for continuous improvement and helping operational teams become more efficient through better financial information and business processes.
